Dear All Rotarians,
It is my pleasure and honor to finally confirm that PP Keith Chow is now selected by our District Nominating Committee on 25th February 2019 as our District Governor Nominee Designate without any challenge up to and including yesterday.
Please join me to congratulate PP Keith and to express our sincere wish for every success in his Rotary Path to lead us as our Governor in the year 2021-22 and also success in all aspects beyond.
I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to the two Governor Candidates for their great efforts during the process and wish them success in the future.
Again my heartfelt gratitude to all members of the District Nominating Committee who have dedicated for us in selecting the best possible candidate to lead us forward.
Cheers ,
Rotary District 3450
RY 2018-19.
Dear All Rotarians,
As District Conference is drawing near, we need to be updated with the background information of the resolution issue related to District Nominating Committee (DNC).
IT is my duty to highlight the following instructions from RI that concern the functioning of District Nominating Committee (DNC) when DNC has been adopted as the method used by our District for years to select our future Governors under the current District Resolution RC/1-2014. (Please refer to the QR Code attached)
There are four main points as follow:
A.   About 3 years restriction on membership of any members in District Nominating Committee (DNC):—
1.   The Board (ie RI Board) expects all district to follow all policies in the Code of Policies, which include that any member in Nominating Committee can only sit at most for 3 one-year terms.
2.   Regarding the 3-year restriction, it is up to the district on when to start the counting, but provided that it cannot be later than the year the policy was announced, which will be Rotary year 2016-17.
Hence this Rotary Year 2018-19 is the third year following the counting from RY 2016-17.
B.  About the composition of the DNC in coming year after this Rotary Year:
 1.   The composition and terms of reference of the nominating committee for governor needs to be decided before the next nominating committee starts functioning.
2.   Therefore, RI recommends that I, as the DG, should call a District Legislation Meeting within this Rotary Year 2018-19 to solve this issue, if it is not to be solved in the District Conference.
Hence, I will provide suitable platform for solving this issue in this Rotary Year according to RI instruction.
I welcome any Club or Rotarian to suggest to District any proposal of amendments to our current District Resolution RC/1-2014 in order to settle in this Rotary Year the composition and terms of reference of the DNC before the next one starts to function. In this respect, I am impartial to any proposals suggested.
Thank you All.
Together we will achieve!
Best from my heart,
[District Conference 18-19 May 2019]
