Dear Rotary leaders and fellow Rotarians,
Thank you so much for all your support in the successful delivery of our District’s first Rotary Day Service Program.
Very happy to report that on 23 February 2014, a Sunday, District 3450 collaborated with 14 NGO’s in simultaneously delivering 16 service projects. An estimate of more than 300 Rotarians/Rotaractors and friends had participated to serve the community.
We were honoured that Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr. Sin Yat Kin, CSDSM, was the officiating guest at our launching ceremony. Representatives of all the 14 NGO’s, and two teams of students, from VTC and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, joined the ceremony. Our service teams marched out to the invigorating music by Cape Collinson Marching Band.
To Area 4, my DAG’s and Presidents, Rotarians and friends, I must thank you for your effort as the coordinating Area.
To the 21 Rotary and Rotaract Clubs who have sponsored Rotary Day service projects, I salute to you. You have shown the true spirit of Rotary — of not only donating money, but also hands-on participation.
To District Conference Chair, PP Peter Chu, and his OC team, I must thank everyone for helping to make the launching ceremony successful.
The Rotary Day 2014 T-shirts are a hot topic. Thanks for PDG David Harilela’s team and P Francis Au for the design.
I am sure there are a lot of people that I have not begun to thank.
Last but not least, I must thank DG Eugene for entrusting me with this meaningful task. All of the hard work is worthwhile as I listen to Rotarians talking about their experience on that afternoon, of how the joy of those they served touched them, and of how they and their family feel blessed for having the chance to serve.
It was a blessing that we could “Engage Rotary and Change Lives.”
Yours in Rotary,
Chairman, Rotary Day Service Program 2014
Assistant Governor (Area 4)
