Dear Rotary Leaders,

It is my pleasure to inform you that our District 3450 will, in cooperation with the Department of Health (DH) of the HKSAR Government, conduct organ donation promotion activities at the 49th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (工展會) on the 21st (Sunday) and 29th (Monday) of December 2014.  The Expo is being held at the Victoria Park in Causeway bay.  A flyer on this is attached for your easy reference.

More specifically, the activities which will take place on the above two dates are as follows:

(i)  On 21st Dec, a booth will be set up by DH in the Expo. Part of the booth will be allocated to D3450 for selling Rotary Octopus Cards which are designed to promote organ donation.  We will also put up posters at the booth to publicize the work of Rotary including that on organ donation promotion.  Some members from the Hong Kong Transplant Sports Association will also join our team to promote the sale of Rotary Octopus Cards, the importance of organ donation to people who need organ transplant to save their lives and hence the importance of having more people to register as organ donors.  The booth will be situated near the performance stage of the Expo.

(ii)  On 29th Dec, the same booth will be set up for us to continue our work in (i).  Furthermore, for the first time, we will be given one hour (5-6 p.m.on 29th Dec) to deliver performance on the main stage of the Expo.  We are pleased that Dr. Ko Wing-man, Secretary for Food and Health, and Alfred Hui Ting-hang (a popular singer among the younger generation) will join DG Belinda to address the audience and share their views on the subject of organ donation.  Alfred Hui will also join our performance and sing.  Other performances will include singing by our Rotary singing team, Rope Skipping and Hip Hop Dance.

You are cordially invited to attend the above activities, and also to bring along fellow Rotarians of your club, your family members and friends.  You can show your support to our booth by buying Rotary Octopus Cards, registering as organ donors (if you have not yet done so), and encouraging other Rotarians, your family members and friends to do the same.  Your presence and cheers to the stage performance on 29th Dec will be most needed to let other visitors to the Expo appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication of Rotarians in serving the community.

Some complimentary tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis at the RIC.  Please contact RIC colleagues and get your complimentary tickets for entering the Expo.  The complimentary tickets may save you the time of queuing up to buy your tickets and then queueing up to enter the Expo.  You can directly enter the Expo through the VIP entrance.  Those getting the tickets are expected to turn up at the Expo and support your fellow Rotarians on the 21st or 29th Dec. If there are not enough complimentary tickets meeting everyone’s need, it will cost only HK$10 per person to buy a ticket at the door to enter the Expo.

The District Committee on Organ Donation would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Rewarding New Year.  We look forward to seeing you at the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo.
