Supporting Youth-in-Transition in Upward Mobility – Career Talk

On 27th May, 2104 Tuesday afternoon, Rotary District 3450 held a Supporting Youth-in-Transition in Upward Mobility – Career Talk at Hong Kong Productive Council, Kowloon Tong. The program is part of the work led by District Poverty Alleviation Committee Chair PP Andy Wong.

The afternoon program is well attended by DG Eugene, Fong, PDG Joseph Lee, PDG Jones Wong,and 15 PPs , Rotarians, other than 60 youngsters who came from twelve Non Government Organizations, the partnering agencies in Poverty Alleviation Program since July 2013.

The program has a good partner Hong Kong Council of Social Services and a solid supported by WoFoo Social Enterprise.

The main purpose of this workshop provide direct chat with young people who have just into the field only few years ago. It is hope to let young people who are about to leave their schools and those who are now in the community seeking for their future jobs.

Program of the afternoon begins with DG Eugene’s encouraging speech, then four speakers Ms Lau Yan Tung of YY limited talks on Beauty Industry; Mr. Tony Leung of Life Association Ltd and Wayne Cheng shared Event Management Industry, while Ms. Janice Au representing Regal Hotels shares numbers of job in Hospitality Industry and Mr. Daniel Suen from Hong Kong Poly University gave their professional view on the latest development of his filed.

After that, we break into four groups and each groups have life stories and experience shared by young people with questions and answers. Feedbacks form the students and guests are very positive as they feel no pressure throughout the time. No lecturing rather many direct life stories sharing attracts participants’ attention.

Mr. Choi of HKCSS and her staff Connie said they are very appreciated what Rotarians’ efforts and resources putting in such a program. It once again shows how much Rotarians love the community and young people.

Certificates were distributed to those who completed the whole event.
