It was a cold and cloudy day on March 2.  But the joy and laughter at the Guangzhou City Skin Disease Clinic in Tai Wo Township drove away the coldness.

Our club celebrated Chinese New Year with 40 current residents at the clinic. After having lunch with them, we gave them New Year gifts, red pockets, and played fun group games ‘We are friends’ and ‘New Year Greetings Word Chain’.

The highlight of the day was the Magic Show. Our PE Wilson Wan taught each Rotarian to play one magic trick beforehand. We all played well and received a big applause. Of course the amazing magic performance of PE Wilson received the biggest applause!

The elderly residents at the clinic have recovered from leprosy, but they still have the physical damage left by the disease. Many have spent most of their lifetime in the clinic, isolated from the outside world for decades. Our club started visiting them in 2000 and we have become their good friends since.  From their smiling faces and appreciation, we know that we have made a difference to their lives by giving our love and care. Thanks to all current and prior members in the past 14 years for their persistence in this project. We will keep the spirit going as we “Engage Rotary, Change Lives.”
