Dear Club Presidents and District Leaders,

To appeal the organizing a Rotary Day by our RI President Gary C.K. Huang, our District 3450 is going to organize a new athletic event “Rotary HK Ultramarathon 2015” in our community on 1 March 2015.  We are proud as a service organisation to launch this first official running event in Hong Kong and looking forward to mark this event as one of the HK Major Local Sport Events in coming future.   Also a “Rotary Carnival” will be held on the same day to celebrate with the public and take the opportunity to improve Rotary’s image and further introduce the public to Rotary.

As we are partnering with Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association of this first ultramarathon event, we both have the same mission not only enhance a healthy image but also to bring a special meaning to the development of athletes by making Ultramarathon one of the most popular sports in Hong Kong. The first year we will start as the pilot run of 50Km and extend to 100Km as our final targeted distance.

The Rotary HK Ultramarathon 2015 will take place at Lung Wo Road while the Rotary Carnival is at the adjoining Tamar Park.  For the details, please kindly refer to the attached promotion leaflet.

As the organiser of this event, we would like to have all the Clubs’ support and participation. There are many ways you could help out like encouraging your members, their families and friends to:-

  1. register the race for those who are qualified for the full marathon running
  2. form relay team from 4 min. to 8 max. runners per team to experience the race
  3. join with the service partners to host a booth in the carnival to promote the organisation or service by organising amusement games, fundraising sales, etc.
  4. place an advertisement in the Program Book.
  5. join the carnival on the day and buy in advance the Entry Tickets with 5 x HK$20 Cash Coupons (HK$100 each)
