Supporting Youth-in-Transition in Upward Mobility Launching Ceremony 2013

Motivation . Option . Rapport . Esteem (M.O.R.E.)

With an objective of supporting our Youth-in-Transition in achieving upward mobility,  the District Poverty Alleviation Committee (DPA Committee) organized the M.O.R.E. Project again this year with The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) continuing as our important Strategic Partner.  In addition, we are pleased to have invited Wofoo Social Enterprises as our Supporting Organization this year.  Thirteen projects being selected by the DPA Committee and HKCSS were well supported by both the social service partners and Rotary Clubs. They are set to roll out during 2013-14 for our youths.

An official launching ceremony was held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 with around 100 people enrolled comprising officiating guests, NGO representatives, Rotarians and friends.   Annie Tam, Permanent Secretary for Labour & Welfare was our Guest-of-Honour.  In addition to DG Eugene and myself, other officiating guests included Christine Fang, Chief Executive of HKCSS and Virginia Chan, JP, Chairman, Steering Committee, Wofoo Community Service Network.  Highlights of the launch included sharing of the initial results of the Social Impact Assessment of last year’s M.O.R.E. and an Overview of the 2013-14 Projects.  The launch was nicely wrapped up by a working session between the DPA Committee, Partnering Clubs and NGOs.   All parties showed commitment to bringing the 2013-14 M.O.R.E. to new heights.

The District Poverty Alleviation Committee is grateful to the strong support of all concerned.  Let’s all join together to Engage Rotary & Change Lives.
